Startle supports playback direct to Sonos through the use of an audio stream (a la internet radio) that will broadcast on your internal network only. This feature is not enabled by default. You MUST specifically request for us to enable this service as your playback destination. Doing so will deactivate the analog audio output (3.5mm jack).
Connect your Startle device to power and internet. Once this is confirmed online you must inform us that the device is ready to be set up for Sonos. This can only be done after your internal network has assigned an IP address to it and we can see the device online. We will use that IP address to generate the radio station's URL and convert it to a web address that you will enter into your Sonos app.
Get your custom URL. We will provide a web address for the Sonos app. It will resemble:
http://us1234.str.tl:8000/audio
where the first two letters reflect the region of your log in, and the 4 digits are your JUKE ID that denotes your audio stream ID in our system. You can find this in Device Management>Player Information in the heading at the top of the page.
Download the Sonos app from the Play/App Store
Since a recent change to the Sonos app you will no longer be able to use the legacy version of TuneIn to play the stream. The newer TuneIn requires that you additionally download the TuneIn app and register a user account with them.
Troubleshooting
No sound? Paste the URL we gave you into a web browser. Does it work? If yes then your Sonos app is not configured correctly. Review the steps above and check for errors. You must paste the full URL including http:// into the custom station field.
Doesn't play in the browser either? Then you may have a firewall blocking this traffic on your network. We have a workaround for this but it comes with some limitations. Please contact Relentless Support for assistance.
